LPF News Round Up

It’s been another very busy few weeks at Level Playing Field. We’ve been arranging the office relocation from Chester to Wembley, interviewing and appointing the new Administrator and preparing for the AGM. All this alongside the everyday queries, meetings and office administration while the BBC news story broke about the lack of facilities for disabled supporters at the Premier League grounds, questions around our topic in the House of Lords and the Minister for Disabled People speaking out.

The office has been overwhelmed by the tributes and messages of condolence received following the death of our Vice-Chair, Gary Deards, and the AGM gave us all an opportunity to remember the work he did for LPF.

At the end of April Ruth Hopkins attended the Birmingham City v Wigan match accompanied by the LPF Ambassador, June Wratten to present John Starkey with the LPF award for Employee of the Year in front of a packed St. Andrews stadium.

The AGM was held in Portcullis House, the Houses of Parliament on 22nd May and was well attended. It was lovely to see so many members and friends.

On Thursday 29th May the removal van arrived late afternoon and packed our office into boxes ready for the trip to London. We said our thanks and good bye to our office Administrator, Rachel, who had chosen not to relocate with us and locked the Chester office for the last time. On Friday morning the unpacking started and by lunchtime things were pretty well organised, the IT was up and running and we were ready to start work on Monday morning.

We are pleased to welcome our new Administrator, Debbie Courtney, to the LPF team.

Ruth Hopkins has been overseeing the LPF Access Audit programme including audits of test cricket grounds and the Rugby League Championship ground project as well as enquiries from a number of League football clubs. Ruth has also been involved in the design appraisals of a number of football club ground developments.

The Working Together project is now in its third year and is still helping to deliver new Disabled Supporter Associations at clubs around the country. It has made a big difference to a huge number of people.
