Changing Places awareness day

Today is Changing Places awareness day.

A Changing Places is larger than the standard accessible toilet, with a full-size adult changing bed and a hoist provided. This enables many people, who have previously been unable to attend sports to attend. Everyone should have access to appropriate toilet facilities, no matter what their disability.

Imagine being a fan and having to plan your whole day around where there is a suitable toilet for you? Or if there were no suitable facilities, having to leave watching your team at halftime? This is what many disabled spectators face.

It is estimated that 1 in 250 people require a Changing Places. Having this facility provided means that many disabled people, including those with high support needs, who were previously unable to attend a game or stay for the whole game, are now able to do so.

Most Premier League clubs now offer this facility, and many other sports clubs are now offering this facility.

You can check if the club or sports venue you want to attend has a Changing Places.

Level Playing Field access audits always recommend a Changing Places facility is provided at sports grounds.
