Disability Awareness Day Going the Extra Mile Scuba Diving Challenge

In an attempt to raise funds towards this years Disability Awareness Day that will be held on the 14th July (see www.disabilityawarenessday.org.uk) Dave Thompson is taking part in the Going the Extra Mile Scuba Diving Challenge which includes a 64 length gruelling dive of the pool at Great Sankey Leisure Centre on Saturday 27th April (4pm till 8pm).  Tetraplegia after a spinal cord injury in 1989 has left Dave  with only limited use in his left arm and hand, thus making the dive a real challenge. If you are a qualified scuba diver Dave would like to invite you to join him and take up the challenge. Dave is looking for a minimum of £30 sponsorship and if you need equipment Terry Wood and his team from Cheshire Scuba Academy has offered to assist volunteers with tanks, BCD’s and regulators. If you are not qualified but would like to do a ‘try dive’ Terry and his team have offered to provide expert tuition and all of the equipment in return for you raising a minimum of £30 sponsorship. Disability Awareness Day has been running for 22 years, it is Europe’s largest ‘voluntary led’ disability event and it has inspired organisations across the world to organise similar events. If you can not join Dave, but would like to make a donation, please visit www.justgiving.com/scuba2013 If you are interested in joining him, please call Dave on 01925 664064.
