International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD)

Sunday 3rd December is International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) 2017. This year’s theme is “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all”.

Since the FA joined forces with the EFL and Level Playing Field last year to produce the film  to mark last year’s IDPD, we have seen many football clubs from all leagues make positive changes to improve accessibility and inclusion at their venues for people with disabilities, both those visible and invisible.

You can watch “Access for all” on the FA’s website here.

Level Playing Field want to see the promotion and improvement of access to sporting events for everybody and will continue to work with other organisations such as our sister organisation Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE), The Shippey Campaign, Kick It Out, Football Supporters Federation (FSF), and the Changing Places Consortium, and Sports Grounds Safety Authority, to achieve an inclusive and accessible experience for all sports fans.

As an organisation we benefit from being led by disabled people. We have a longstanding commitment and passion for being inclusive in everything we do, no more so than in our recruitment and employment practices. We are proud to have recently signed up to the ‘Disability Confident’ initiative and hope that this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities will raise awareness and encourage other organisations to do the same.
