Leicestershire set ‘Unite For Access’ underway across cricket

Level Playing Field’s first ‘Unite For Access’ campaign across cricket, started out with a celebration of access and inclusion for disabled sports fans in Leicestershire.

The campaign is running until July 13, with other events taking place over the next two weekends.
The charity’s chief executive, Owain Davies, was in attendance and gave a presentation on the wider campaign and accessibility, as supporters from Leicestershire and Middlesex came together in the marquee.

Players warmed-up in ‘Unite For Access’ t-shirts to provide further visibility, at the Rothesay County Championship match.

Davies said: “It was a pleasure to come along and be part of the day’s celebrations.

“Bringing disabled spectators and non-disabled spectators from both sides together was really valuable and their contributions provided so much insight.

“The engagement from the staff at Leicestershire was also positive to see and the overall enthusiasm to make strides forward shows that introducing this cricket specific window to ‘Unite For Access’ was worthwhile.

“Now, I am looking forward to the next two weekends, as we see more counties stage their celebrations.

The ‘Unite For Access’ campaign across cricket follows football’s fortnight earlier in the year, where fans, disabled supporters’ associations and clubs from the Premier League, EFL and beyond, came together to celebrate access and inclusion for disabled fans.
