Mansfield Town to launch Audio Descriptive Commentary at first home game of the season

Mansfield Town are set to launch Audio Descriptive Commentary (ADC) for their first home game of the season against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday 12th August.

Over the summer the club have been working with ADC specialists Alan March Sport who have provided expert training and state of the art equipment and now have 5 trained commentators ready to enhance the matchday experience for blind and partially sighted spectators for the 2017/18 season.

ADC differs from television and radio commentary where a specially trained commentator provides additional narration that describes all significant visual information such as body language, facial expression, scenery, action, clothing, colours and anything else that is important to conveying the image, venue, match, event or surrounding ambience.

Accessing the Service

Home and away supporters wishing to access the service at the One Call Stadium can do so by collecting an audio description receiver from the entrance to the Kevin Bird Suite 75 minutes before kick-off. You will need to fill out a form the first time you use the service so allow an extra few minutes on this occasion.

Once used, the receiver can be returned to the Ticket Office – which is situated on Quarry Lane – from 75 minutes into the game until 20 minutes after the game is complete.

It is recommended that supporters bring their own standard-jack head/earphones to plug into the receiver, for hygiene and comfort purposes.
