Level Playing Field welcomes WSL Football’s new design guidance for women’s football stadia.
Key considerations of disabled supporters, across the areas of inclusivity & accessibility, fan experience and facilities & safety, can have an important impact on matchday experiences.
Level Playing Field was pleased to feed into the development process, with the guidance marking a significant increase in focus on stadium design and management in women’s football, ahead of the publication of Accessible Stadia Second Edition, which will apply across all sports.
General manager & head of access and development, Ruth Hopkins, said: “The appetite for inclusion across the women’s game is very encouraging.
“It is vital that disabled fans are always at the heart of that and it is therefore very pleasing to see the level of emphasis shown in this document.
“Efforts must now be focused towards making practical changes and we are always keen to be a part of that.
“Clubs should also see this as an opportunity to engage with existing and potential disabled fans, as they look towards a more inclusive future.”
The full guidance and further details can be found on the WSL Football website.
Disabled fans are encouraged get in touch with Level Playing Field, to share matchday experiences from attending women’s football.
