New wheelchair section opened at Ashton Gate Stadium

Last Saturday saw the long-awaited opening of a new wheelchair area in the Williams stand. Club President Marina Dolman and Football League independent ombudsman Alan Watson performed the honours. The club has worked closely with members of the Bristol City Disabled Supporters Association and the Level Playing Field organisation to make sure that the new area offers the best possible view to all supporters. The area was dedicated to the memory of former supporter of the year Ian Cottle, who along with his brother David had campaigned for an improvement in facilities for wheelchair users.  David and his father were there for the official opening. David said: “The area was excellent, and provided me with the best view of a City goal at the East End of the ground since I have used my wheelchair. “My family are very proud that Ian’s name has been attached to this facility, which provides wheelchair users with a significantly enhanced view. “My father and I were honoured to have our photo taken with Marina Dolman and Alan Watson, and I was humbled when fellow users “thanked me and Ian” for our efforts on their behalf.”
