Notts County host Midlands Forum for the first time

Meadow Lane was the location of the Level Playing Field Midlands Forum, on what was the first time an event of its kind had been hosted in Nottingham.

Disabled sports fans, club representatives and other stakeholders, came together for a day focused on access and inclusion, at the home of Notts County.

Areas of focus included a look ahead to the implications of an updated Accessible Stadia and conversations around matchday transport.

Attendees also had the opportunity to network, while sharing experiences and best practice with others from across the region’s sporting landscape.

The EFL’s director of equality, diversity and inclusion, David McArdle, joined as a guest speaker, and Laura Cameron from Notts County Disabled Supporters’ Association delivered closing remarks.

Level Playing Field chief executive, Owain Davies, said: “We have had back-to-back regional forums across the North and Midlands, with each showing the clear appetite to further access and inclusion, from supporters and industry professionals.

“We are very thankful to all of the staff at Notts County, as well as the disabled supporters’ association, for helping to make this event another overwhelming success.

“There was really strong engagement on the day, and I know many of the attendees have left with new information, perspectives and contacts, which will help them going forward.

“It was a pleasure to be part of so many productive conversations, which also improves our knowledge of what is happening on a regional scale.”
