Remembering Lord Rosser

Everyone at Level Playing Field has been deeply saddened by the recent passing of Lord Rosser of Ickenham.

Lord Richard Rosser served as Vice President at the charity for more than a decade, playing a vital role in promoting equality and inclusion for disabled sports fans.

In a political context, his expertise repeatedly proved vital in advancing access, particularly through his contribution to the Baroness Casey Review of events surrounding the UEFA Euro 2020 final at Wembley.

Lord Rosser also performed important ambassadorial duties, including presenting Arsenal with their Level Playing Field Centre of Excellence Award and opening the charity’s first national forum.

President of Level Playing Field, David Bernstein CBE, said: “Lord Rosser will be remembered for his warmth, empathy, and unwavering integrity.

“His contributions to the work of Level Playing Field will leave a lasting legacy, through the continued improvement to the experiences of many disabled sports fans.

“We will miss his expertise and advocacy, with which he played a vital role in much of the charities work over the past decade and beyond.

“My deepest condolences go to Richard’s family and friends at this time. They are in the thoughts of all at Level Playing Field”

Chair of Level Playing Field, Tony Taylor, added: “I first met Lord Rosser when I joined Level Playing Field and I have always appreciated his commitment to securing a better deal for disabled sports fans.

“From that very first meeting, I recognised him as a man of great integrity, matched by a compassionate approach.

“His wise counsel and analytical thinking brought a great dimension to our work.  He was passionate about his role as a Vice President of Level Playing Field and always made a contribution to our development as an organisation.

“I will miss his guidance and support, but above all, I will miss Richard as an individual.  He is a great loss and my deepest condolences go to Sheena, his family and his many friends.”
