Sheffield United and Bradford City fans join forces to mark Weeks of Action

Supporters of Sheffield United and Bradford City joined together to mark Level Playing Field’s Weeks of Action 2015 ahead of their fixture at Bramall Lane last Saturday.

The Disabled Supporters Organisation of Sheffield United FC set up a presentation and exchange of pennants (pictured) with the recently launched Bantams Disabled Organisation (DO) on the pitch prior to the fixture on Saturday.

At half-time, a certificate presentation was made to participants of the Sheffield United Community Foundation’s DS Active Programme by Vice President David Green. Their excitement was plain to see by the smiles on their faces.

This was followed by a pitch parade by disabled supporters from both United and Bradford City, where they received a fantastic reception from both sets of fans, with applause rippling around the stadium as they made their way around the pitch.

Malachy Brannigan, Sheffield United managing director said: “The Bradford City fixture was one of our Level Playing Field designated matches and we were really pleased that disabled fans from Bradford City could join us. We continue to work hard to be an all-inclusive Club and days like this give out a very positive message.”

Kate Eveleigh, chairman of Bradford DO, said: “As a new group, we are always looking for opportunities to interact with other similar groups and support campaigns such as Level Playing Fields Weeks of Action.”

Bantams Do was recently launched during Level Playing Fields Working Together Project

The Level Playing Field Weeks of Action will take place from 18th April until the 3rd May. It is an annual fortnight for clubs to showcase the positive work they do in partnership with their disabled supporters and to promote access and inclusion. You can join our Thunderclap here.
