Southampton are set to install a Changing Places facility after a campaign by Sarah Brisdion to have the specialist toilet faciltity introduced at St Mary’s Stadium.
Sarah’s 5 year old son Hadley, who has Celebral Palsy, is currently unable to attend Southampton home matches due to there being no adequate toilet and changing facilities to meet his accessibility requirements.
The club has now announced that it will install a Changing Places toilet as part of ongoing works to improve accessibility at St Mary’s. This fully accessible toilet with a hoist, height adjustable bench and room enough for 2 personal assistants can transform the matchday experience for disabled fans.
Hadley meanwhile had a memorable experience at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday (10th September) where he watched his Saints heroes take on Arsenal for his 6th Birthday.
Arsenal were the first Premier League club to install a Changing Places facility, and when contacted ahead of the game they invited Hadley and family along as guests to watch the match as well as meet players from both teams ahead of kick off.
