Southampton was the setting, as disabled fans joined club representatives and other key stakeholders at the Level Playing Field South Forum.
The event at St Mary’s marked the start of a tour, which will see regional forums held in the Midlands, the North and Wales in 2026.
Attendees from across the region’s sporting landscape had the opportunity to network, while sharing experiences and best practice.
There were also a series of sessions covering topic’s which included Accessible Stadia and an early look at results from the charity’s recent survey.
The EFL’s director of equality, diversity and inclusion, David McArdle, was a guest speaker, while the forum was opened by the Southampton’s CEO, Phil Parsons, before Disability Liaison Officer, Helen Goosey, welcomed guests. Later, Saints Disabled Supporters’ Association Chairman, Mike Thew, delivered closing remarks
Level Playing Field chief executive, Owain Davies, said: “We have had overwhelmingly positive feedback to this Level Playing Field South Forum.
“It was clear from the engagement in the room, that the new areas of focus are providing all attendees with relevant points to explore and discuss.
“Southampton were fantastic hosts and I would like to thank all of the members of staff and the disabled supporters’ association for their assistance in making this event such a success. My thanks also go to David (McArdle) for offering insight which proved valuable to many, both within and outside the EFL structure.
“Having these opportunities to bring together a blend of fans and industry professionals for a day focused on access and inclusion, always creates an ideal environment to learn and develop understanding.”
