#ThrowBackThursday – Weeks Of Action 2018

In 2018 we saw over 130 Clubs, Disabled Supporters Associations (DSAs), and Charities take part in #WeeksOfAction. At the time it was the biggest campaign Level Playing Field had held to date.

The theme of the campaign was #OurMatchday where Clubs, DSAs, Fans and other organisations shared what they did to maximise the matchday experience for disabled fans and to make it as inclusive as possible or from a fan’s perspective what made their matchday.

Our annual campaign is about spreading the message of access and inclusion and driving greater standards at sports stadia in England and Wales. The engagement in 2018 ‘s campaign was significant, and some of the action can be seen below:

–        We saw clubs from across the leagues take part in some innovative activities, Bristol Rovers had a full menu of activity, from the players warming up in campaign t-shirts, the DSA launched their new badges and the community teams did a pitch side parade. Read more Here

–        DSAs were out in force supporting the campaign, and Crawley Town interviewed one of their members about their matchday, you can read the interview by clicking Here

–        Newcastle Undated DSA also provided a blog about their away matchday visit to Manchester City read more Here

Owain Davies, LPF Chief Executive said: “In 2018 we saw a significant increase in clubs, DSAs, Fans and other organisations wanting to take part in the campaign. The standards of access and inclusion are improving at sport stadia with clubs recognising more what’s expected and how to deliver this. The message of the campaign is to share the positive work and best practice to drive greater standards of inclusion. Even though we are seeing success, this is not universal, and clearly we are working towards greater access and inclusion. These campaigns are a good opportunity for us to take stock of what we have done so far and to look to the future.”

We are two days away from this year’s #WeeksOfAction, and already there are more than ever Clubs, DSAs, Fans, and other organisations taking part, and we anticipate this increasing.  If you see something positive or would like to support the campaign makes sure you tag @LPFtweets in your tweets or Level Playing Field in your posts on Facebook and don’t forget to include #WeeksOfAction.
