Bolton Wanderers have been celebrating the #GameChangers to mark the Level Playing Field Weeks of Action and have highlighted the work of 19 year old Morgan Parry and his quest to improve access and inclusion for disabled supporters.
Morgan, a season-ticket holder at the Macron Stadium who also follows the Trotters to away games, is currently studying for a BTEC for Business at Bolton College with an assignment to develop the idea of a new business.
His idea was a consultancy for sports clubs to help improve access and inclusion for all disabled supporters. Morgan is a wheelchair user himself, but his idea would cover the range of disabilities that exist.
As part of his research, he spoke to Daniel Scott, Disabled Supporters’ Liaison Officer at Bolton Wanderers, who arranged for Morgan to supply fellow fans with questionnaires on their matchday experience. To date he has gathered over 60 responses, including some from on his travels to away games.
His efforts were also recognised by the EFL, with Aneel Javed, Specialist Advisor for Inclusion at the organisation asking Morgan to appear in a documentary about access for disabled supporters. His matchday experience was documented at the Macron Stadium and will be shown at a special disability conference set to be held at Derby County’s iPro Stadium in April.
