Disability Access/Liaison Officer training

The training is focused on maximizing the role of the Disability Access/Liaison Officer.

Introduction

Our Disability Access Officer (DAO) Training is a bespoke and competitively priced training package which looks to upskill Disability Access/Liaison Officers or those with significant responsibility for disability access and inclusion at their club. The training can be delivered one-to-one or to a small group of up to 5 individuals, and is much more conversational, allowing space for detailed questions and discussions.

The training focusses on making improvements to access at your club and engaging with disabled fans. It includes examples of best practice services and facilities; a look at the DAO role; potential areas of improvement and how to identify and communicate the need to change.

Who’s it for?

The training is designed to support staff who have primary (or significant) responsibility for disability access and inclusion at their club. Their responsibilities are likely to include communicating regularly with disabled supporters, understanding and overcoming some of the access barriers faced by their disabled fans, and liaising with front-line staff, policy makers and other departments on how to improve the matchday experience of disabled supporters.

What does it cover

  • Introduction to disability
  • Understanding inclusion – legislation and the Equality Act
  • The role and responsibilities of a DAO
  • Effective communication and information
  • Creating a strategy for change

How is the training Delivered?

The training is designed to be very interactive and conversational, so is typically best delivered in-person at your venue. Alternatively, there is the option for an online session using Teams if that is preferable. The cost is the same either way, although there are no travel expenses for an online session.

Sessions are typically between 3 and 3.5 hours long, although there is some flexibility on this depending on your requirements.

The cost for a DAO Training session for one person is £300, plus VAT and reasonable travel expenses (for an in-person session).

The cost for a DAO Training session for between 2-5 people is £400, plus VAT and reasonable travel expenses (for an in-person session).
